Greatest Sporting achievement of all time. Leicester City ?
Its remarkable but it's not the Greatest upset of all time. If they win it again next year and the Champions League then that would be incredible. Leicester had a large dollop of luck. No major injuries to key players all season for example. No European games to sap their fitness like all the other top 6 teams (WHU included) our season started in early July (ffs)

If Carroll and Payet were fully fit and had played all season we'd have been in the Top 3 easy this year. Glad they pipped Spurs though, they are fast becoming the Leeds Utd of the new millenia, 9 bookings in that game tonight, 5 of their players could have been sent off, Dier, Rose, Vertonghen, Dembele and that's the 2nd week on TV that Walker has kicked an opponent... All on the back of the Alli punch last week.

Greatest enduring sporting achievements are like the following

Ali beating George Foreman to win the World Heavyweight Boxing title for the 3rd time. Now that took some balls to take all that punishment for 9 rounds until Foreman got tired. Up to that point it was 27 mins of having one of the hardest punchers in the world go at your arms, head, ribs and shoulders. That is punishment and human endurance.

555 straight consecutive wins by Jahangir Khan, Pakistan's legendary squash player.

Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak

The God inspired - South Africa winning the 1995 Rugby WC Final right after apartheid was ended that united a country...

Sachin Tendulkar a Century of Centuries in International Cricket.

They dont even begin to match up. To find something even close you have to look to Brian Clough, but the odds were never so long

to be fair modern odds for some stuff is ridiculous stomper. want to know a couple of things you could've got shorter odds on? elvis being found alive and piers morgan becoming arsenal manager before the end of the season. 5000/1 in a 20 horse race? lol

You could just enjoy an amazing sporting story. (Comfortably the most incredible ever in my book)

But no, you go with a fucking squash player.

I'm actually glad you take no joy from this. Serves you right.

Surely Clough's Nottingham Forrest is the bigger success story.

When clough done it, it was a superb achievement, but it was before teams had to compete with other clubs spending 300 million and that's just on wages!!

Appreciate there was still a gap though with what clubs spent and who clubs could talk into joining them.

Whatever way you look at it, those Leicester cunts have pulled off one of life's greatest ever victories.

The greatest upset maybe in English football. But not the greatest achievement, which is probably reserved for the true "greats" of any sport, e.g Bradman, Federer, Pele, Bolt.
For teams, greatness has to mean several years of relative invincibility. The All Blacks, the West Indies (once), Man Utd under Ferguson....

Leicester winning the PL is Roy of the Rovers stuff in my book and im well envious of them for it, it should have been us! They have gone from relegation certainties when at Christmas 2014 they were bottom of the league, went on a run that saw them stay up, then they continue that form and win the league, and all on the fraction of the budget of the big clubs, its an incredible achievement and cant see how any football fan could not applaud them for it.

All season I have thought they will never win this, they are going to falter at some stage and finish mid table which in any other season would be a good result for them , but credit were its due, they just kept on going and were not intimidated or overwhelmed by anyone.

Still gutted though as this is the sort of thing I would have loved to have seen us achieve, can imagine how the die hard Leicester fans must feel, fuck what I wouldn’t give for that to have happened to us………..

Take a bow Leicester city and all who played this season, got to be up there as one of the greatest sporting achievements ever, certainly in the modern era and for me in the game of football.

I've played a bit this season, so I'll take a bow.

Definitely the most irritating sporting achievement of all time. Sickening how a shiity little club playing thuggish football can win the title above us.

I'm looking forward to the wankers enjoying complete humiliation in the Champion's League next year and an unsuccessful relegation scrap.

Re: Greatest Sporting achievement of all time. Leicester City ?
peroni - Kind of agree with that. On one hand it's refreshing to see a club outside of the usual suspects win it, as above all else it give some hope to the rest of us. On the other hand, if there is a major shock then I really only want it to be us winning the thing. We are now gonna have this rammed down our throats left right and fucking centre for months. I don't take any pleasure at all in seeing these cunts lifting the title.

It would have been ten times worse if the yids had won it. I don't have any dealings with any Leicester fans so not bothered really, fair play to them.

As much as the Sky coverage is annoying me already, you have to say this is up there with the biggest achievements ever. Not sure if it's THE biggest shock in history but it is an unbelievable achievement.

Thank fuck they beat those fuckers to it, too.

So really, it's all down to Nigel Pearson as he laid the foundations?

The last few weeks there has been a bloke at the gym I attend to constantly sporting a Leicester shirt EVERYDAY!!. I'm glad someone outside the usual suspects have won the league but the media wankfest over them since October has got on my non existent tit's. But this has happened before its not the first time really is it.

Pearson put together that squad, who were destined for relegation until Alex Ferguson told Pearson to start getting angry in interviews, let the players and fans know he cared, as he was apparently too laid back, not panicing, when they were on their terrible run. After that phone call from Red Nose, Pearson turned into a right moody bastard, they played West Ham, and never looked back. This season they carried on where they left off under Pearson. Fair play to Ranieri for keeping them going.

Biggest upset ever, for me. Over 38 games, you can't fluke it. Massive slice of luck regarding injuries and ref decisions, but you make your own luck, they say.
